President Alben Barkley, who was buried
there after he died in 1956.

Barkley was the oldest person ever elected
vice president of the United States. He was
seventy-one years old when he took the
oath of office in January of 1949.

first wife, Dorothy, who passed away before
he was elected to the vice presidency.

Vice president Barkley spent much of his
life in Paducah. Historic markers in the city
denote sites such as Barkley's home, Angles,
and his downtown law office.
