I met former President Bill Clinton
in 2005 in Providence, Rhode
Island, where he was signing
copies of his autobiography, My Life.
I brought this Eyewitness presidents
book with me to read while I was
waiting in line. Several women
working at the event tried to take
the book away from me, saying
Clinton would not sign it.
My father camped out overnight
at the Brown Bookstore to ensure
we would be able to see the former
president before the cutoff time.
I was able to retain my book despite the
attempts of the workers. Though it was not
my intent to ask the former president for
an additional autograph, Clinton himself
asked me if I wanted him to sign the book,
and I happily accepted his offer.
